BIOE 2380 - Medical Imaging Systems I

Description: A systems perspective introduction to the fundamentals of medical imaging techniques used to generate cross-sectional images of patients. Emphasis on use of multi-dimensional Fourier transforms to develop the generalized central-section theorem used in tomography at the imaging equation used in MRI. The critical concepts of image SNR and image quality will also be introduced. MRI and x-ray CT are used as two sample modalities to explore these basic concepts.
